Spring Equinox, Libra Sun and the Wood Element

Venus/Libra

Happy Birthday to me…and to all the other Libran’s as we reach the Spring Equinox when the Sun goes into Libra.

We’ve navigated through the darkness of winter with the invitation to be still, reflective, and introspective, supporting our regeneration and renewal. Spring begins to amp things up. Since the 23rd August the Sun has been moving through the Earth sign of Virgo. You may have been feeling the call for a Spring clean? Virgo loves to de-clutter and get organised. Or maybe you’re feeling motivated to create a plan to implement a new health and fitness routine or that project you’ve been dreaming up. As the days get longer you’ll feel more drawn to get outside and connect with nature.

This Earth energy will support you in creating actionable steps to awaken and reignite your energy, which will support you in this transition. You’re slowly awakening from the winter slumber and your body is processing and wanting to detox with this new motivational energy, so be patient with yourself. The earlier your start preparing your body for Spring the better. Use this Virgo energy to make small consistent steps and go at your own pace.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to change the pace and give yourself time to reset and reboot, you might just feel the seasonal shift a bit more challenging. It has not been an easy time on this planet as we’re seeing war and injustice play out globally. For those not personally impacted, our hearts are breaking (and awakening) to this fight and separation energy that is creating so much destruction.

Woman with low energy/ burn out

When we are exposed to painful experiences whether personally experience or watching through media, our nervous system can’t decipher if this is happening to us. So, it's important to be tuning in on where your energy and nervous system are at each day, so you can discern how much you expose yourself too.

You are also moving through your own personal challenges and some periods of your life have more surfacing than others. Being depleted and burned-out serves no one.

So back to the Spring Equinox. This point in time marks the balance of night and day, dark and light, and as I mentioned it commences as the sun moves into the Air sign of Libra, which is all about balance.

Her ruling planet Venus embodies the qualities of love, pleasure, creativity, relationships and money, so these topics may come into focus for you during Libra season.

This might be a time where you feel called to reconnect with people. Air signs love talking and learning. Maybe you decide to read more or study something of interest. If your mind feels overloaded, you may feel called to take up a mediation practice to clear the mind and create space for insights from your higher mind.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Spring represents the Wood Element, which governs the Liver and Gallbladder Meridians. If your Liver and Gallbladder are in good shape detoxifying your system and helping in the digestion process, you should find the transition into Spring much easier. If you’re clogged up from unhealthy food choices, consumed and exposed to toxins and emotional congested, you may be more hypersensitive. This may cause allergic reactions to the environment and difficulty with digestion.

Emotions are a big contributor to the health of our energy systems and cause stagnation when emotions aren’t being processed. Anger is the emotion associated with the Wood Element and a good indicator that it may be out of balance. Anger can be a response to an unmet need or masking a more vulnerable emotion such as sadness or fear.

The energy of this element wants us to expand and move forward. It will support you in building momentum with your direction in life. It wants you to move through any injustices and be assertive and disciplined to be the authentic you. Unhealthy emotions may dominate if you don’t find way to move the energy through. A simple walk out in nature is the perfect solution to shift your environment and get your mind present.

Australian Bush Flower Essences that can help support you during this time are:

o   Dagger Hakea – Feeling anger, bitterness, resentment, helps forgive and openly express your feelings, also support the Liver (Yin).

o   Mountain Devil – Feeling anger, hatred, jealousy, helps create healthy boundaries, forgive and embody more love energy, also supports the Gallbladder (Yang).

o   Slender Rice Flower – Comparison with others, narrow mindedness, dislike of others, helps with cooperation, group harmony and seeing the beauty in others.

o   Rough Bluebell - Hurtful, manipulative, exploitive or malicious, infuses compassion, sensitivity and release of one’s inherent love vibration.

o   Southern Cross – Victim mentality, complaining, martyr archetype, help you take responsibility, step into your personal power and be more positive.

o   Sunshine Wattle – Difficult times in the past but are stuck there, in struggle mindset and grim outlook, infuses optimism, acceptance of the joy and beauty in the present, opens to a bright future.

Kinesiology can help identify the stress that’s at play and what parts of the body are impacted. It's also an incredible tool to discover what emotions, belief systems or programming are contributing to your issue. The gift with Kinesiology is the ability to tune into the subconscious and unconscious through connecting with the nervous system. I also tune into the energy shifts and work intuitively.

To support you in preparation for Spring, I might check the meridians, structure and function of the Liver and Gallbladder. Potentially look at toxicity pathways in the body and de-stress the different organs that process and release these toxins. Maybe explore the NeuroEmotional Pathways (NEPS), specifically the Rage or Fear system. NEPS works with different parts of the brain pathways that get activated when we experience a particular state of stress, such as rage.

Depending on the issue and where your energy and spirit guides me, all gets revealed as the session unfolds. There’s no rule book or pre-determined path. It just takes a level of openness as we’re working with the non-physical. I find what makes a potent session is a strong intention and a willingness to face your shadows (we all have them!)
