Winter Solstice, Cancer Sun and the Water Element
As we near the winter solstice marking the shortest day of the year and welcome in winter, how can you honour and celebrate the natural cycles of the Earth? The Sun enters the astrological sign of Cancer, which will be asking us to nurture and nourish our mind, body & spirit. It craves homely comforts, connection with loved ones and warm soul nourishing foods. Cancerian energies are just what we need as we enter the winter chill and long nights.
Cancer is a water element sign, as are the associated meridians for winter, which are the Kidney and Bladder Meridian in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Fear, anxiety, adrenal fatigue and emotional disturbances are some of the indicators that the Kidney and Bladder energy channels need support. Your Kidneys determine your life force, so using these winter months to restore and calm your adrenal system and fear response will prepare you for the awakening of Spring/wood element. Australian Bush Flower Essences you could work with are Dog Rose (Fear), Dog Rose of the Wild Forces (Terror), Old Man Banksia (frustrated and disheartened by setbacks) and Banksia Robur (lacking energy, frustrations) just to name a few. I work with flower essences in my practice and can provide personalised remedies also.
Kinesiology can work with your meridian channels, finding out what ones are stressed. If the emotions mentioned above are dominant in your life, I can support you in working with the fear pathways, conditioned stress and emotional suppression. When we fight against the natural cycles of life adrenal fatigue and burn out can result. Our sympathetic nervous system is constantly being activated through the external and self-imposed pressures and stressors of daily life, media consumption, lived experience and trauma just to name a few.
The lack of regular practices to bring the nervous system out of fight and flight (sympathetic) and into the parasympathetic state, where it can rest, digest and repair is contributing to these conditions and disease.
Kinesiology is a tool to bring your energy back into balance but to empower you to make the lifestyle changes required to look after your health on a day-to-day basis. It reconnects you with your inner wisdom. You know what you need, but there are things clouding that connection. Kinesiology facilitates that connection.
